I don’t mean to jump into a conversation I’m not part of, but I wanted to mention I’ve done a lot of research lately of baseball history for a Steve/Bucky series I’m writing, and weirdly, the rivalry really seemed to be with the Giants (whose fans were seen as elitist snobs). As far as I’ve been able to find, anyway. It won’t let me link, but there are some sites that discuss it and that they took it with them to CA. I’m sure S&B hated the Yankees on principle, though, and would stil!

Yeah, I heard the Giants/Dodgers feud lives on in California! We’re more wondering I guess–hilariously–what Steve and Bucky would do when the Dodgers (inevitably, sigh) lost. Would you root for the Yankees because Babe and New York? Would you root for anybody else against the Yankees, and would that include the Sox?? We’re now down to second tier baseball speculation here. Yes, we  are far down the hole; what, like you’re not? 😛

fwiw, my dad who grew up in the Bronx and NJ (I know, I know) and his parents were very clear about this – you always root against the Yankees. Always. Full stop. He never got over the Dodgers even into the 90s. He’d grumble every time a game came on TV but he’d always bet against the Yankees. Individual players he’d support for sure, but the team? Ptooey.
