Re: the meta about Tony outing Clint’s family to the government on the raft, yes if they were still a secret at that point it sucks, but I’m gonna err on the side of “Tony literally doesn’t remember they’re a secret”.

Tony grew up as the only child of a famous inventor/business dude. He’s used to company secrets and government secrets. He’s used to “that’s classified”. He is not used to personal life being a secret. Probably had family vacations spread across the tabloids as a kid, definitely had his dating life in the headlines as a teen/young adult.

“My family is so secret only Nick Fury and Natasha knew about them” must’ve been like hearing “I’m married to a unicorn”. And it’s been a year since then. This is Tony being an idiot, not Tony being a dick.

It literally doesn’t matter why when he’s putting a family at risk while Clint is locked up and can’t do anything to protect them. Clint & Laura trusted him with a secret vital to their family’s safety and breaking that because he’s too self absorbed to remember that not everybody is as privileged as he is is still being a dick.

Here’s the thing about “This was so different than what he was used to” excuse–and that’s what it is, an excuse–is that Tony never shows any want or desire to CARE to remember that no everyone is as privileged as he is. That people don’t all live the way he does.

Sure, his life is plastered all over the place, but he was trusted with a secret–a vitally important one–and broke that trust to the detriment of an innocent woman who opened her home to him when he needed help and three small children. It shouldn’t MATTER that it was a personal secret and not some top secret government project. He doesn’t CARE to protect this woman or her kids because he doesn’t see them as important enough to protect.

Adding into this his complete disregard for Peter Parker’s safety and lying flat out to his guardian’s face while skeeving all over her? Well…

Tony’s a fucking DICK.
