YA help please?

villainny:

I’ve decided this year to focus on diversity of reading with my tutor group, because the focus on amount that the school has always pushed is discriminatory.

I have a huge world map on the wall and I’m going to use flags and pins and index card reviews to show who’s been reading about where. Of course, what I need now is a list of recommendations for them. I’d prefer books about lived experience rather than white western authors writing about their research, obviously.

So far I’ve found a bunch about road-tripping in America, Planet YA which is missing Africa and Asia unfortunately :/, and geography book lists on Goodreads, all of which I’m going to take a look through, but if anyone has any recommendations of books suitable for 11-16 year olds I’d really appreciate it.
