The final score is announced. They’ve done it. At long last, the Chicago Cubs have won the World Series. As a single unit, every player on the team drops their gear and looks skyward, expressions of peace and bliss on all their faces. Then they dissolve into dust. Their souls are free of their earthly torment.
Over 100 years ago, the Cubs swore to keep playing until they won the championship, however long it would take – if only they’d realized then what kind of fate they were damning themselves to!
But none of that matters anymore. The curse has been lifted. After 108 years, they can finally die. The Cubs are free.
