clockways:

So @copperbadge learning the ukulele has made me want to pick up an instrument again. I did pull out my flute several weeks ago (which I played in middle and high school), but I think that is absolutely unplayable for me now. It braces all of the balance weight on my bad thumb and in about three minuets it was agonizing pain.

When I was a little bit I played the piano briefly. And I was an even littler bit I played the guitar (until my brother accidentally crushed my guitar and then after I had a new one my guitar teach mysteriously never returned). But if I am to be completely honest I’ve sort of always been fascinated by harps- specifically lap/celtic harps. And I like tuning with stringed instruments.

Problem is even a ‘learning’ harp is $350ish (and then jumps to $600s) and while I can sell my flute to fund it (and likely should at this point) it’s still not a small investment. SO anyone here have any advice about lap/celtic harps or things I should know?

I do actually!  I highly recommend https://hmtrad.com/ (House of Musical Traditions). When I built my harp 20 years ago they had been around then and had beaucoup advice. Truly lovely people that can give good info at whatever your level of expertise.
