in-real-life-there-is-no-algebra will be teaching next year as an 11th grade English teacher in Texas, at a school with very few resources and located in a food desert. She would like to stock her classroom in a way that makes her kids, the majority of whom are Latinx or African-American, like they are in a first-rate school with supplies and a great classroom library. She’s set up an Amazon Wishlist here where people can help buy books for her students to enjoy.

mirfain linked to a fundraiser to open The Catcade, a cat rescue charity inspired by cat cafes, where people can play arcade games, hang out with cats, and hopefully adopt a new cat friend to take home; the idea was founded by Chicago writer deadxstop and the fundraiser has about ten days left to raise a majority of the money. alchemia is raising funds to replace equipment damaged when his spouse had a medical emergency and EMS workers dumped a heavy box of supplies on top of his laptop on the table. The laptop is not just a computer but also an assistive device for Alchemia, as well as a major social outlet; in addition, his Wacom tablet was damaged. You can read more and support the fundraiser in a number of ways here, including donating money but also sending used or purchased parts.

rilee16 is still struggling to cover medical expenses after two head injuries last year, and hasn’t been cleared to return to work, thus can’t earn money to cover basic living costs, let alone the bills they’ve received, including a recent rent increase. They are frequently running out of money for gas to even do odd jobs for pay. You can read more and help out here.

zorilleerrant linked to the upcoming Static Shock Appreciation Week, to celebrate the television show Static Shock and the comics and other media the character appeared in. Appreciation week starts on May 29th, and you can share fanart, fanfic, meta, and other commentary on the character, including themed daily posts. You can read more and spread the word here.
