7 QUESTIONS YOU SHOULD ASK AT THE END OF EVERY JOB INTERVIEW.

Click here to find out why these questions help you.

This is so important!

I never know what to ask and end up looking like a fool cause I don’t have a question prepared.

Don’t be me.

The weird thing about this post is that it ALWAYS shows up when I have an interview

i am a manager and this is exactly what I look for.

Stop trying to get black people points by pretending you care about Black Panther. Bucky is the most popular character and there’s nothing wrong with him wanting to be in as many movies as possible.

“black ppl points” yikes.

Anon is correct, we actually have a running list. It’s a very organized spreadsheet.

Wow. Okay.  I have news for anon. Bucky is far from the most popular character. If he was we’d have a heck of a lot more merch for one. By movies made? Actually, the other brown haired white dude would be most popular and by that I would mean Spiderman.

I can appreciate wanting to see your favorite character more. I keep an eye out for the bumpers and mid-credit tag scenes to see if characters I am invested in are going to show up there, where it might be appropriate to see them to tease other movies (which is often how Marvel uses them).

But let’s talk about Black Panther for a minute here. And for the record? I’m white. Just so we’re clear. I don’t do performative ally crap for anyone. What I do is support fannish expression that is healthy, de-colonizing and raises up the best parts of fandom as best as I know how. Black Panther doesn’t need Bucky Barnes, Iron Man, or Captain America. From what we know about BP so far it’s going to be about Wakanda and frankly? White people minus the villians? Don’t go there. It’s a closed country, that’s kinda the point of the thing.

I for one am thrilled that they aren’t in it. They don’t have a place in that story and they shouldn’t be (ask me sometime about my feelings about Iron Man in Civil War). What we know of the plot says that it’s going to be an internal conflict and concerns about how Wakanda got brought into the world, about taking on the kingship. That? Is an awesome origin story that doesn’t owe anything to white men.

You want more Bucky? Awesome. Go write some. I’ll read it. I read a lot of fanfic. As of the time of this post there are 51,757 words with Buck Barnes on AO3. There is no shortage of Bucky and lord knows there is plenty of stuff on tumblr and wattpad and whatever else is out there.

There is NOTHING wrong with wanting more Bucky, but just not here. That’s allowed. The world is allowed to have exclusive spaces that we are not invited to, that are not for us. You, anon, don’t get to have everything and put yourself in everything.  Besides, it wouldn’t hurt for you to go and see it and enjoy it without Bucky. Just go watch it once without mentally inserting him into every scene. See what the world is like.

Series: Part 1 of Settle in and find your home
Summary:

“No offense meant, but I’m not up for games, Pepper – what do you want?”

Pepper startles Maria by being just as blunt – not that Pepper plays around much, but she’s usually one for observing basic social niceties and putting the kind of lead-up to a conversation that means you more or less know where things are going. Apparently not right now. She just takes her cue from Maria instead.

“I want you to sign this,” she says, as Eva takes a folder out of her bag and leans over to place the SI-stationery file she takes out of that in front of Maria on the table, “I want you to take the job I’m offering you, and I want you to sort out the absolute fucking rats’-nest of a mess in the security and personnel end of my company. I want to make goddamn sure that nobody ever manages to do what they did on Insight Day again.”

Fic recommendation time again. You don’t need to have read the rest of the series or the connected works for this one (tho it’s a great gateway). Takes place right after Captain America: Winter Soldier and assumes that the characters are actually competent or hyper-competent people. Wonderful Maria Hill voice.

I’ve seen one list going around but it consists mainly of books, which may be time-consuming or unavailable for some folks, and our ability to share them far and wide is limited. I compiled this list of online articles available for free plus archive.org links. Check on the notes if you save this link as I may occasionally reblog it to add articles that fit.

um this is tight as fuck everybody read it!!!

I skimmed through these (I’d read some of them before) so if you want a quick takeaway:

  • The White Flight of Derek Black is excellent reading if you feel like you need some hope.
  • Ur-Fascism provides a lot of historical context to modern fascism.
  • How to Help the Cause When You Need Help Yourself is a GREAT resource for people who feel like they can’t possibly do everything they want to, and who feel limited by disability, physical or neurological.
  • On Arguing with the Upper Class is a short, concise, useful single-punch if you feel like you can’t handle anything deep or long today.
  • The post on fascist tactics is for if you really want to get mad and start some shit.
