Dear Winter Widow shippers.
I am new here, but I am here, and i’m ready to participate.
I’ve been messing around with a lot of Phil Noto’s palettes. He draws my favorite version of Black Widow.
and of course, my favorite buck is long haired buck.
All this is very loose work and freehand sketches with no reference. I’m enjoying working with color (even though i do prefer black and white :P)
please don’t remove my caption, watermark, or steal and repost.
thanks and hope you like it!

the subtext in this scene KILLS ME Steve clearly WANTS Sam’s help but doesn’t want to be the one to ask him to do it Sam is joking at first
there’s a twinkle in his eyes as he says that ‘captain america’ needs him when he clearly means YOU you steve rogers need my help
and he’s more serious as he continues that there’s no better reason to get back in that he believes in this fight ‘I BELIEVE IN YOU SO HARD STEVE’
and Steve can’t even handle it he has to look away ‘HE BELIEVES IN ME SO HARD’ I CAN’T EVEN BOYS
I feel like this scene is an odd echo of the bar scene with Bucky where Bucky says he won’t follow Captain America but he’ll follow that kid from Brooklyn.
And you know at that point all Bucky wanted, really, was to get out.
I got a bit carried away with this, I had been wanting to draw this particular image for a while so thank’s for asking! haha
‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ art book, 2014.
When asked if he’d like to take over the captain’s shield one day, Sebastian Stan didn’t hesitate to let his intentions be known: “Yeah, I’ll do it right now. I wouldn’t mind a little Black Widow story happening.” Who in the right mind wouldn’t wanna be involved with Scarlett Johansson? On a serious note, Steve Rogers may be thawed out from hibernation and still serving his country, but Captain America isn’t freed from his past. A brawny, blockbuster-formula movie with the brains of an espionage thriller, The Winter Soldier recalls vintage 70s spy romps, yet resonates with contemporary issues about military might, black-ops government conspiracies, historical cover-ups, war, peace, privacy in this digital era, and questions like “Who can you trust?” At least in this film, you can always rely on the hero with the red, white, and blue “boomerang.”
Winter is Coming, by Randi Laing.
Bucky trying to make sense of his memories:
*points at Natasha:* I’ve slept with you.
*points at Steve* Have I slept with you?
Steve shakes his head and babbles something.
Bucky pats Steve’s chest. “We’ll fix that.”
a weak and tortured bucky making sure steve gets to safety first
I call bullshit. This is the guy with the SHIELD going first in case there are people with guns. That’s just smart.
Winter Soldier and the mask
So probably a dumb question but I’ve gotten hung up on it a few times – is the purpose behind the mask and goggles purely for obscuring purposes because he’s out in public?
From a tactical purpose it doesn’t make a lot of sense. No one else on the tac team has the same masks.
And I can’t help but think it isn’t a usual part of his uniform either since most of the time he’s supposed to be ‘the ghost’ and therefore never seen. You know, the cliche of ‘it’s okay that you’ve seen my face because you’re about to die and it won’t matter’.
Is it distancing for the Winter Soldier? Does it keep him mentally even further from thinking his targets are people? Very dehumanizing, etc.
