Where would you recommend starting to get into Hawkeye comics?
ahhh okay so I am going to give you the advice that EmilyĀ gave to me!
if youāre interested in the modern era I would start with the BlindspotĀ limited run (you can buy it inĀ trade here)Ā and then go into Fractionās Hawkeye book (there are two trades out so far āMy Life as a Weapon’ and ’Little Hits’ and the third ’L.A. Woman’ will be out in August or if you want to get the individual issues they’re up to 18 now and there’s an annual that comes between 11 and 12).
If you love it, which you should, IĀ highly recommend you read the Ronin arc (which was way too short) which is the arc after Clint comes back to life (basically Wanda accidentally kills him then heās brought back for House of M and then after House of M ends up alive again because comics but heās not comfortable being Hawkeye anymore). Ā
That consists of in order (and sorry I donāt have links to where you can buy individual issues though Iām sure you can find stuff online if you google around):Ā
- Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America
- The New Avengers (26)
- The New Avengers (30)
- Secret Invasion (02)
- New Avengers: The Reunion (Suspicion) from the Dark Reign book
- New Avengers: The Reunion (01-03)
- Dark Reign: The List Avengers (01)
- New Avengers Annual (03)
And also Young Avengers Presents: Hawkeye but Iāll get to that in a second
I also recommend the two shortlived series āHawkeye & Mockingbird: Ghosts’ and ’Widowmaker’ which is Hawkeye, Mockingbird and Black Widow. Those are all set in between the Ronin arc and Blindspot and are super great.
Finally, if you read Hawkeye and love Kate Bishop, which you will because sheās perfect, you should read the Young Avengers series. Ā That is, in order:
- Young Avengers Volume 1
- Young Avengers Volume 2: Family Matters
- Civil War: Young Avengers and Runaways
- Young Avengers Presents
- Secret Invasion: Runaways/Young Avengers
- Dark Reign: Young Avengers
- Avengers: The Childrenās Crusade
- Gillen & Mckelvieās Young Avengers (Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3)
I know thatās a lot of information but I think thatās a pretty good start. Clintās in some other books as well. He was in quite a few issues of Kelly Sueās Avengers Assemble, and I know heās in Secret Avengers though Iāve heard some messed up shit about the old book, the new oneās okay so far. I can give you Emilyās recs for all the important times he interacts with Bucky as well because Clint/Bucky is great. Ā Comics are inconsistent at times because so much of the character depends on whoās writing them, but most of the list Iāve given you I really enjoyed, so.
I hope that was helpful and not scary!
In case I needed another reason to think that jeremy and clint are basically the same i get this
which really just made me think of this
–Ā collar says itās āArrowā.
– Iāll come up with something better.Hawkeye #01

āĀ Clint understands what Bucky is going through, and helps him through it?
Hawkeye covers by David Aja
What it was going to be, we were trying to complicate the relationship between Cap and his S.H.I.E.L.D agent friends,ā Joe Russo told Screenrant. āIf Hawkeye got a call from S.H.I.E.L.D saying Captain America is a fugitive, would he listen to that call or not listen to that call? That sequence actually was heartbreaking for us to cut it. I think it ultimately might have been a conflict with Rennerās schedule. But there was a great sequence where Hawkeye was chasing Cap through Washington D.C. there was an awesome sequence where they confronted each other in a ravine on the outskirts of D.C. and Hawkeye was shooting a series of arrows closing in on Cap, Cap closing in on him. And then Cap took him down and he realized for the first time that Hawkeye was trying to trick S.H.I.E.L.D, where he whispered something into Capās ear that Cap had a tracker on his suit and to punch Hawkeye to make it look real, because there was a Quinjet hovering above where they were watching the feedback back at S.H.I.E.L.D.
Captain America: the Winter Soldier co-director Joe Russo on Hawkeyeās scripted cameo, which was cut from the film due to scheduling conflicts.
Itās a shame this scene was cut from the film, as it wouldāve added a nice layer to Rennerās Hawkeye that we havenāt explicitly seen beforeā namely, that he prioritizes personal loyalties over institutionalized rules. Thatās a core part of 616 Clintās character, and an aspect Iād love to see cinematic Hawkeye share with him. Ā
